Mod safely

Mods touch your game files and, sometimes, your save. Six rules keep both intact — none of them optional, all of them cheap.

Six habits of modders who keep their saves

If something breaks

Crash on startup, broken save, weird behavior online — the recovery procedure is always the same, and it always ends with a clean, unmodded game:

  1. Delete the UE4SS mods. Empty the Mods folder inside your UE4SS install (Pal\Binaries\Win64\UE4SS\Mods on Steam).
  2. Delete your .pak mods. Remove everything you added to Pal\Content\Paks — the whole ~mods subfolder if you followed the guide.
  3. Verify game files. Steam → Palworld → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. Anything a mod overwrote comes back stock.
  4. Launch the game clean. Only when vanilla works, reinstall mods one at a time — and restore your backed-up save if you had to roll back.

Still broken after that? The problem is not your mods. Check docs.palworldgame.com and the Palworld Modding Community Discord for known 1.0 issues.
